Ernest Lee Houchens Sr. 75 of Smiths Grove, KY died Wednesday August 24, 2005 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was born in Barren County the son of the late Lee and Annie Smith Houchens. Mr. Houchens was a farmer and former owner of the Old Fort Restaurant in Glasgow. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a Baptist. He is survived by 3 daughters Dona Davenport and husband William of Auburn, KY, Rita Kelb and husband Edward of Dayton, OH, and Sharon Buckley of Glasgow; 3 sons Jerry Ragle and wife Rosie of Glasgow, Jr. Houchens and wife Janelle of BonAyr and Tommy Houchens and Fiancee' Sandy Glass of Glasgow; 1 brother J. T. Houchens and wife Wanda of Temple Hill; 2 sisters Louise Devasher of Lucas and Anna Lee Shelton of Bowling Green and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Janet Melton, a brother Ewell Houchens and a sister Margaret Houchens. Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday August 27, 2005 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery with military honors provided by D.A.V. Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 11:00am Friday at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
