Amos Carroll Mercer, a beloved figure in the Glasgow, Kentucky community, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 18, 2026, at the age of 81. He was born on May 2, 1944, in Glasgow, Kentucky.

He is survived by his dear wife, Opal Mercer, who stood by his side for over 60 years. Amos was a proud father to his sons, Timothy Mercer (Carol) and Robert Mercer (Rebecca). He was also a loving uncle to his niece, Marie Townsend, and a devoted grandfather, Robbie Mercer (Tosha), Travis Mercer, Cody Mercer, Reba Mercer, Jazzy Mercer, Gavin Mercer, Julie Elmore (Clint), Kaci Hubbard (Seth), and Rachel Lindsey (Josh), and he also had several great grandchildren.

Amos was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Bell Mercer, his brother, Jim Bartley, and three daughters Alicia, Rose, and Bonnie, whose absence will forever be felt in the hearts of his surviving family members.

Throughout his life, Amos found joy in the serene art of fishing, often spending peaceful afternoons by the water, reflecting on life and enjoying nature’s beauty. His ability to connect with others left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 25th, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.

Amos Mercer will be remembered not only for his love of family but also for the warmth and kindness he extended to all. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
