Aubrey Lee Houchens, 91 of Glasgow, Kentucky passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville Tennessee. Aubrey was well known in the community by many as "Hoot." Aubrey was a US Army Veteran, having served in Germany. He was a resident engineer with the Kentucky State Highway Department where he retired after 35 years. He later worked for Scottys Paving, Larry Glass Paving and Cleary Construction. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan. He loved fishing, boating, camping, riding motorcycles, playing cards and competing in Roley Hole Marble Tournaments. He was frequently at Lera B. Mitchell clubhouse until he was no longer able. He was a jack of all trades, and he frequently shared his knowledge with his daughters and grandsons. His greatest blessing was his family, whom he loved with all his heart. Aubrey is survived by his wife of 63 years, Truda Houchens, whom he met while working for the Kentucky Highway Department in Ashland, Kentucky. His fur baby Charlie, and daughters Kim Houchens and Stephanie Houchens Marsh (Stacy), grandsons, Dustin Read (Sally) and Dylan Read, nieces and nephews; Stacy Owen (Tommy), Nicole Jones (Beau), Sandy Kubit (John), Brenda Kolomichik (Pete-dec), Jennifer Etela (Wayne), Kathleen Lasik (Joe) and Frank Castrucci (Holly), along with several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oline and Gilbert Houchens, a son, Jonathan Houchens and his brother Jimmy Houchens (Judy). His care is under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Friday, January 30 at 10:00AM. Visitation will begin Thursday, January 29 from 5:00-8:00pm and Friday until time for service. Burial will follow at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Glasgow DAV Chapter #20.
