Betty Sue Guffey

Betty Sue Guffey,83, of Glasgow, passed away on September 8, 2026, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow, Kentucky. She was born on February 25, 1943, in Albany, Kentucky, to the late Cohen Baker and the late Hallie Stone Baker.

Mrs. Guffey will be remembered as a loving and devoted woman whose greatest joy was her family. She loved flowers and cooking, and most of all she cherished spending time with those she loved. Until her illness became too much, she also loved attending Old Zion Methodist Church, where her faith and fellowship were an important part of her life.

In the neighborhood where she and her husband lived, Betty was known as everyone’s grandmother. She loved being around children and treated them all as her own, sharing warmth, kindness, and a welcoming spirit that left a lasting impression on so many lives. Her gentle presence and caring heart made her beloved not only within her family, but also throughout her community.

She is survived by her husband, James Hubert Guffey, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. She also leaves behind her sons, Jim Guffey and his wife Tina, Jerry Guffey and his wife Windy, and Jeff Guffey. Her memory will be treasured by her grandchildren, Taylor Jester, Jeremiah Guffey, J.W. Guffey, Josh Guffey, Jessie Guffey, Chaney Guffey, Amber Mackie, and Jaxon Mackie, as well as by her great-grandchildren, Aislyn Jester and Kollyns Guffey, and several nieces and nephews. She leaves her family the enduring gift of her love, her care, and the many memories they shared together.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sue Jester, and six siblings.

The funeral service for Mrs. Guffey will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 11, 2026, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday, and Friday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.

Betty Sue Guffey will be remembered with love for the life she shared, the family she cherished, and the kindness she extended so freely to others.
