Buddy Elane Lyle

Buddy Elane Lyle, 88, of Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 11th, 2026, at TJ Samson Community Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on December 12th, 1937, in Green County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Cova Lyle and Nanny Irene Thompson Lyle.

Buddy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose happiest days were spent working on the farm. He had an animated spirit that could brighten anyone’s day, often bringing laughter and warmth wherever he went. He enjoyed woodworking, storytelling, and the simple joy of being outdoors. Buddy was an avid music lover, always ready to lift his voice in song or tap his foot to the boogie of a saxophone or piano.

Throughout his life, Buddy held many roles in the working world, including serving as a mail carrier for the USPS, working as a loan officer at Pioneer Bank and Kentucky Finance, and later becoming part owner of Crown Finance. No matter the job, he approached every task with dedication, kindness, and a genuine love for people.

Survivors include daughters, Linda Proffitt (Dennis) of Glasgow and Laura Brack (BJ) of Nashville; grandchildren, Christy Johns (Chan) of Glasgow, Debbie Profgan (Brittney) of Oakland, Alex Brack and Jacob Brack both of Nashville; great grandchildren Sage, Syler and Solomon Johns.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life of 65 years, Lucille Lyle as well as his siblings, Keith Lyle, Kenneth Lyle, Bernice Chapman, Travis Lyle and Virginia Walker.

The funeral service for Mr. Lyle will be held at 12:00pm Sunday, May 17th at A.F. Crow & Sons Funeral Home with the burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, May 17th from 10:00am until the time for the service at the funeral home.
