Carl Roman Sparks

Carl Roman Sparks, age 84, was born on November 20, 1941, in Mayking, Kentucky, to William and Susie Sparks. He passed away July 24, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and compassion.

Carl shared a devoted marriage of 64 years with his beloved wife, Edith Sparks. Together they built a family that brought him immense pride. He is survived by his beloved wife, Edith; his sons, Tim Sparks and his wife, Tia, and Chris Sparks and his wife, Jennifer. He was a proud grandfather to Hallie Kernstein and her husband, Brian; Shelby Ulmer and her husband, Chad; Brayden Sparks; and Sydney Bolinger and her husband, Zeke. He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him tremendous joy.

Among Carl's personal writings was an unfinished note that began, "To the greatest sons and daughters-in-law a parent could ever have..." Though he never completed the message, those few words spoke volumes. They reflected the deep love, gratitude, and pride he had for Tim and Tia, and Chris and Jennifer. Even unfinished, his words remain a lasting testament to the special place they held in his heart.

Carl made his home in Glasgow, Kentucky, where he loved spending time on the lake, especially fishing. He was known as a man who never met a stranger. His warm smile, welcoming spirit, and genuine interest in others made everyone feel like a friend.

Above all, Carl was a man of deep and unwavering faith. His relationship with God was the foundation of his life and guided the way he loved and served others. One of his greatest passions was visiting nursing homes, where he would spend time talking with residents, sharing conversation, and singing songs to brighten their days. His kindness, compassion, and servant's heart touched countless lives and reflected the love of Christ that he carried with him every day.

Carl's family and friends will remember him for his steadfast faith, his love of family, his gentle spirit, and the joy he found in serving others. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Carl also leaves this heartfelt message for his beloved wife:

"In respect to my loving wife, Edith, I hope you will continue to live a joyful life."

Though he will be deeply missed, Carl's life is a beautiful reminder that a life lived with faith, love, and compassion leaves an everlasting impact.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, July 30,2026, at A.F. Crow and Son Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M., Thursday, until time for services at the funeral home. 

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
