Clare Mary Hildreth Davis,74, of Glasgow, passed away Saturday, October 3rd at 12:45 PM. She was born in St. Vincents Hospital, December 22, 1951. Her parents took her home to 5116 Lawrenceville Circle shortly after. She went to the Suwanee Presbyterian Kindergarten, 2001 University Blvd., in Lakewood, on the south side of the city. She started at the Assumption Elementary School. In 1961, the Assumption and St. Joseph parishes ceded land to form the San Jose parish. Clare moved to that school when she made the 5th grade. She went to Bishop Kenny High School and graduated in 1970.
She found a position with the Prudential Life Insurance Company right out of high school and stayed there for 10 years. In 1980, she began working in a commercial roofing firm, primarily assisting with bookkeeping, scheduling, and procurement.
Clare had a strong Christian faith, knew her way around the kitchen, had a good ‘eye’ for interior decoration, and loved both cats and dogs. She learned ballet and performed in several functions mostly at her church. She loved to be around her nieces and nephews, and they felt the same way.
She married Mikel Davis in Orange Park on January 28, 2013. Shortly thereafter, they both retired to Edmonton, Kentucky. Sadly, shortly after they moved, Clare was diagnosed with early-onset dementia and was subsequently moved to NHC Skilled Nursing Center in Glasgow in February of 2020. Mikel passed away quietly in late 2025. Clare, thankfully, was blissfully unaware.
The family has honored Clare's wishes with cremation under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
