David Johnson, 70, passed away on October 23, 2026, at U of L Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on May 17, 1956, in Louisa, Kentucky, to the late Joe Johnson and the late Sarah Hall Johnson. David earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and built a career in that field, working for numerous telephone and cable co-ops before becoming disabled. He concluded his working years at Tri County Electric.
David enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. You could often find him on the porch in his favorite chair, a place that reflected his steady and familiar presence. He loved watching old Westerns and science fiction shows and movies, and he had a passion for collecting coins, stamps, and comic books. These interests brought him enjoyment throughout his life and were part of what made him uniquely David.
He is survived by his fiancée, Clarice Britton; his daughter, Sarah Jeffries; and his sons, Joe David Matthew Johnson (Haley) and Christopher Adam Johnson (Lyndsey). He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Shannon Jeffries, Danielle Jeffries, Mattox Johnson, Kennedy Johnson, Maverick Johnson, Ramey Johnson, Averleigh Johnson, and Peyton Johnson. He is also survived by his niece, Elizabeth Conrad (Scott), and his nephew, Bill Johnson (Nicole). May the love he shared with his partner remain a lasting comfort to all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Marie Ramey Johnson; his grandchild, Gavin Jeffries; and numerous siblings.
