Donald Lamar Thompson, Sr. 81 of Horse Cave, KY and former resident of Macclenny, FL, went home to be with the Lord on April 14, 2022. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Glasgow, KY. Don Was blessed with a beautiful strong voice, which he used in service to his Lord Jesus Christ through many years of music ministry. Wherever Don was, church, work, or family gatherings, there was always the gift of song. After 36 years in the local 435 Sheet Metals Union, based in Jacksonville, Fl, Don retired. Don was a man of many talents who enjoyed working with his hands. Planning, building, and providing a family home is one of the examples of how he used his hands to provide for his family. He enjoyed golf and fishing, but his love for travel had him at the wheel of the RV and his wife and love of 63 years, Norma, the Co-pilot, and navigator in all things, constantly by his side. In a true example of "Till Death Do Us Part". Don died peacefully at home with Norma by his side. There will be a Heavenly reunion as he was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, four brothers, and a special grandchild Savannah. Daddy and Pa have left so many memories to be cherished by his children, Lamar Thompson (Libby) of Macclenny, FL, Lisa Smith (Bill) of Atlantic Beach, FL, and Larry Thompson of Macclenny, FL; grandchildren, Kristin, Michael, Lindsay, Robert, Scott, Travis, Alyssa, and Matthew; six great grandchildren; brothers, Richard & Robert Thompson; sister, Carol Briggs A Celebration of life for Mr. Thompson, will be held 11:00am Thursday, April 21st at the Temple Baptist Church in Glasgow with burial in the Thompson Family Cemetery on the family's farm. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday, from 10:00am until time for the service. AF. Crow & Son is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Thompson.
