Elisabeth "Nana in America" Mains, born on April 7, 1945, in the United Kingdom, passed away peacefully in Glasgow, Kentucky, on April 30, 2025. She dedicated her life to serving others as a nursing assistant in long-term care facilities in the United Kingdom. Her compassion and commitment to her work left an indelible mark on the lives she touched and the families she supported.

Elisabeth had a zest for life that reflected in her hobbies and interests. A devoted fan of Elvis Presley, her passion for the music legend played a significant role in her life journey, including her move to the United States, where she met her husband, William Vernon "Bill" Mains. Their shared love for Elvis created cherished memories that shaped their family bond.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Caroline Bethell; son, Paul David Handley; and stepchildren, Nicole Compton and Mike Mains. Elisabeth's legacy also includes her cherished grandchildren: Becca Carr (Adam), Emma Osguthorpe, Harry Osguthorpe (Abby), Emily Glenwright, and Kyle Compton (Hillary), along with Kayla Evans (Cody) and eight great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.

Elisabeth was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Gilson Sunley, and her mother, Betty Harding Sunley. She now joins her late husband, William Vernon "Bill" Mains, in eternal rest.

The family has honored Elisabeth's wishes with cremation under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
