Etta Elizabeth Calvert, age 94, went to her heavenly home on November 25, 2025.  Born on July 20, 1931, in Barren County, Kentucky, Etta was the daughter of the late Clarence Martin and Mae (Turner) Martin and one of fourteen siblings.

Etta was a graduate of Hiseville High School and then received teaching degress from Campbellsville College and Western Kentucky University. Etta seemed to know from an early age that her calling in life would be to teach and help young children. Etta's first teaching job was at a one room school in Merry Oaks where she taught a class of first through sixth graders. She then transferred to teach third grade at Park City and lastly was employed at Happy Valley School when it opened in Glasgow and taught third grade there until her retirement in 1989.

Following retirement from teaching, Etta found a new love in being a member of the Barren County Homemakers and was an active participant until health issues arose. She was privileged to serve as president of the Amar Club and then served as county wide president. She loved working with the other ladies on numerous craft projects where monies could be raised and donated to charitable causes.

Etta's life was characterized by a deep devotion and service to the Lord and spreading the word of Jesus Christ. She was a member of Glasgow Baptist Church where her love of children led her to teaching Junior High Sunday School class for many years and also leading the annual Vacation Bible School.

Etta is survived by her loving son, Robert Bruce Calvert, and several nieces and nephews, who she dearly adored.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 56 years, Kenneth D Calvert. Also preceding her in death are sisters, Mary Dee Carter, Nadine Morgan, Margie Ward, Shirley Ann Norman; brothers, Lee Martin, Wilson Martin, Paul Martin, Herbert Martin, Allen Martin, Orby Martin, David Martin, Richard Martin, and Billy Joe Martin.
