James Christopher Smith, affectionately known as Chris, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow, Kentucky. Born on October 19, 1965, in Glasgow, Kentucky, Chris was a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend whose vibrant spirit touched many.

A proud graduate of Barren County High School, Chris was well known for his deep devotion to his church community. He attended Union #2 Church, where he found great joy in spending time with his church family. His love for music shone brightly as he often sung in church and participated in the school choir during his youth, sharing his warmth and talents with those around him.

Chris was known by all who met him as someone who had a smile on his face and a welcoming heart. He delighted in engaging conversations, enjoying games, watching game shows, and spending hours cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats. His genuine kindness and playful nature made every interaction with him a memorable one.

Those who survive Chris include his beloved mother, Ruth Ragle Smith; his brothers, Mike Thomerson (Kathy Walker), Tommy Thomerson (Karen Ramsey), and Kevin Smith (Kristie); and his devoted nieces and nephews: Adam Chapman, Michael Thomerson, Holly Thomerson, Laynie Smith (Ben Webb), and Lizzie Smith. He is also remembered fondly by several aunts, uncles, and extended family members who loved him dearly. A special note of gratitude is extended to the wonderful caretakers at NHC Healthcare who lovingly supported Chris throughout the 11 years of his care.

Chris is preceded in death by his father, James Lee Smith.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 27th, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in the Lick Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Sunday, and Monday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.

In remembering Chris, we celebrate a life marked by heartfelt kindness, joyous song, and a sincere love for those around him. His presence was a gift, and his memory will be treasured forever by his family and community.
