Jimmy Manion, 86, of Glasgow, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a dedicated educator, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at his residence in Glasgow. He was born on March 17, 1939, in Akersville, Kentucky, to the late Boyd Wilson Manion and the late Elaine Horne Manion.
Jimmy's career began as a teacher and coach at Cub Run High School, where he ignited the passion for sports in many young minds. His dedication to education led him to serve at various schools, including Glasgow High School, Austin Tracy, Temple Hill, and he concluded his teaching journey at Barren County High School, retiring in 1976. His impact on the lives of his students and players has left an enduring legacy in the community.
A man who cherished relationships, Jimmy was passionate about sports and coaching, but loved spending time with his family and friends even more. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he contributed his time and talents to his spiritual home.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carole Ann Manion, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years of marriage; his son, Timothy Allen Manion; his daughter, Susan Lynn Blevins (Russell); and his grandchildren, Madison Porter (Charlie), Cooper Allen Manion, Ann Russell Blevins, and Taylor Blevins (Wyatt). Additionally, he was the proud great-grandfather of Evelyn Grace Morehead. Also surviving him are his brother, Benny Manion, and his brother-in-law, Lenny Pendleton, along with several nieces and nephews who will all deeply miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Carol Pendleton, which leaves a profound absence in the hearts of those who loved him.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, July 16th, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday and Wednesday morning, until time for the service at the funeral home.
