Joe William Johnson, age 94, of Frankfort, Kentucky, formerly of Glasgow, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. He was born in Zeigler, Illinois, on August 14, 1930, to the late Achsah Mitchell Johnson and the late Geneva Johnson (Slover). Joe retired from RR Donnelley where he worked as an engineer. He was married to the late Lou Mae Johnson.
He is survived by his children, Joanne Tanner (Louis), Joe Charles Johnson, Kelly Wood (Barbie), Jennie Leamon (George); grandchildren, Chris Tanner (Michelle), Trevor Johnson, Trenton Johnson, Mariah Levi (Chuck), Sophie Bulle (Eric), Charlie Wood, and Emily Leamon; sisters, Phyllis McCoy and Zelma Swailes; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Terry Racine; grandchild, Ginny McGuire; brothers-in-law, Bryan McCoy and Alan Swailes; first wife, Virginia Johnson.
The family has honored Mr. Johnson’s wishes with cremation, under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, October 14th, at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
