Kimberly Ann “Kim” (Houston) Bailey

March 31, 1962 – October 12, 2026

Kimberly Ann “Kim” (Houston) Bailey, 64, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026, following a courageous battle with her health. Born on March 31, 1962, in Anchorage, Alaska, Kim lived a life defined by her fierce spirit, generous heart, and unwavering belief in the goodness and potential of others.

Kim is survived by her loving husband of nearly 43 years, Randy Bailey; her son, Joshua Bailey, and his wife, Amy; her daughter, Katey Carman, and her husband, Austin; and her six beloved grandchildren, Anson, Asa, Hazel, Shelby, Evie, and Luly. Of all the roles Kim held throughout her life, none brought her greater pride or happiness than being a mother and grandmother. Her children were among her greatest accomplishments, and her grandchildren were truly her pride and joy.

Those who knew Kim knew she was a woman of strong convictions and an even stronger heart. She was passionate, opinionated, fiercely independent, and never one to shy away from a good debate. Whether you agreed with her or not, you always knew exactly where she stood. She believed wholeheartedly that every person deserved dignity, compassion, and respect, regardless of their background, beliefs, or circumstances. She was a champion for the underdog, a passionate advocate for equality and women's rights, and someone who never hesitated to stand up for what she believed was right.

Throughout her life, Kim demonstrated an extraordinary capacity for compassion and selflessness. Her career in public service reflected her commitment to helping individuals and families through some of life's most difficult circumstances. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, heard, and valued, and she offered kindness and encouragement without expecting anything in return. Helping others was simply part of who she was.

In September 2020, Kim suffered a sudden cardiac arrest, and her family was told she would likely never wake again. In true Kim fashion, she had other plans. Defying the odds, she gave her family six additional years filled with love, laughter, and precious memories. During those years, she welcomed three more grandchildren, bringing her total to six. Those extra years were a gift her family will forever cherish.

Kim will be remembered for her fiery spirit, her generous heart, her unwavering convictions, and the fierce love she had for her family. She was unapologetically herself, and those who loved her would not have wanted her any other way.

Kim leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, courage, and the belief that every person deserves a fighting chance. She will be deeply missed, fiercely loved, and forever remembered.
