Lanos Proffitt 89 of Glasgow and a Monroe County native, died Monday, February 1, 2016 in Glasgow. He was the son of the late Stanley and Golda Emberton Proffitt. Mr. Proffitt was a bull dozer operator for many years. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Bethel Independent Baptist Church. He is survived by seven children; Sheila (Rev. Sammy) Hunt of Glasgow, Rev. Ricky (Max) Proffitt of Glasgow; Carrie (Joey) Wininger of Wasilla, AK, Cathy (Johnny) Ward of Atlanta, GA, Jennifer (Jeff) Cawthorn of Granger, NC, Derek (Nanellyn) Proffitt of Owensboro, KY and Joy (Steve) Bunch of Glasgow; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; two sisters Margaret Belcher of Louisville and Mary Stieber of Mobile, AL and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Mildred Richey. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, February 3rd at Bethel Independent Baptist Church with burial in the Poplar Log Cemetery in Monroe County. Visitation will be at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home Tuesday from 2pm until 8pm and Wednesday at the Church from 10am until time for the service.
