Larry Keith Carrico, 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. He was born June 29, 1946, to John R. and Ethel Mae Carrico in East Texas, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister, Altha Jo Hamilton; brother, Norman Carrico; brother-in-law, Kenny Simpson; and sister-in-law, Barbara Escher. He is survived by his wife, Janet Gray Carrico; son, David Carrico; daughter, Leigh Carrico Mann (Stephen); step-daughter, Stacey Johnson Hughes (Rick); grandson, Ryan Hughes; granddaughter, Elise Hughes; sister, Sandy Simpson; sister-in-law, Cheryl Gray Spencer (Danny); brother-in-law, Bill Escher; and several nieces and nephews.

Larry was a retired teacher who taught at Perryville Elementary School and the Bardstown Independent School System where he served as the high school guidance counselor for many years. He was an active member of KEA/NEA, having been a strong supporter of the advancement of public education. After retiring from teaching, Larry served as former Governor Paul Patton’s spokesperson on substance abuse prevention issues. He attended the First United Methodist Church in Glasgow, where he was a former Sunday School teacher.

A memorial service will be held in Glasgow on Saturday, May 31 at AF Crow & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM with the service at 2:00 PM. A memorial service will be held in Bardstown, Ky at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, BRAWA and the Old Zion Cemetery.
