Larry Martin Smith, born on April 5, 1954, in, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, at NHC Healthcare. He lived a life dedicated to both his family and his community, embodying the steadfastness and dedication of a man devoted to his work and his faith.
Larry worked as a machinist for Madison-Smith and Simpson Machine Shop, showcasing his skills and commitment to his job. Later on, he lent his expertise to his brother in the construction of houses.
His faith was an integral part of his being, as he was a devoted member of Coral Hill Baptist Church. Larry served as a volunteer minister at NHC on Sunday mornings for many years, reflecting his steadfast love for the Lord which he exemplified every day through his actions and service to others.
An avid enthusiast of motorcycles, Larry took great pleasure in the freedom and thrill that riding offered. This passion was another facet of his dynamic personality, bringing joy and excitement to his life.
Larry is survived by his loving brothers, Numa Hill Smith, Tommy Smith (Jane), and Terry Smith (Melissa), and his cherished sisters, Elizabeth Johnson (Cloyd), Violet Davis (Roy), Carolyn Harper, Sarah Shaw, Janie Shaw, Judy Young (Charlie), and Polly Spillman (Richard). He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Holley Jones, Lily Geary, Celena Gentry, Sabrina Newton, and Kristin Day, along with ten great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and beloved pets Elk and Smokie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Brummet Geary Smith, along with his father, Martin Hill, his mother, Gladys Smith Hill, his sister, Sue Forrest, and his brother, Leslie Smith.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 4:00 PM, all to be held at A.F Crow & Son Funeral Home.
