Leroy Dale Nicholas, born on September 23, 1959, departed this life on July 6, 2026, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. His passing leaves a deep emptiness in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, even as we gather to remember and honor a full and meaningful life.
Leroy’s journey was marked by steadfast service, hard work, and a true joy for living. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, a chapter that shaped him into the dedicated individual he was, committed to integrity and responsibility. After his military service, he channeled these same values into his work as a self-employed metal fabricator, contributing to his community and supporting his family through his skills and tireless work ethic.
Outside his professional life, Leroy found happiness in the simple pleasures of country living. He loved riding motorcycles, feeling the freedom of the open road. His hands were often in the earth gardening, tending to his beloved flowers, or casting a line while fishing. He cherished being outdoors, reveling in the beauty and serenity of nature, and delighted in the peace found in rural life.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary Elizabeth Carroll and Theresa Marie Coons; his son, Mathew Dale Nicholas; and his step-son, Lucas John Ledzius; and his family friend and caregiver, Michelle Echeterling. The importance of family and friends for Leroy was paramount, and those closest to him will remember his guidance, humor, and unconditional support.
He is also mourned by his sister, EllaMae Stephan; cousins, Loretta Wise and children and Deloris Huff and Children. Each of these relationships was a testament to Leroy’s open heart, welcoming spirit, and the genuine affection he fostered among both immediate and extended family members.
Leroy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lisa Joyce Moss Nicholas; his mother, Rose Marie Cook Clemons; his sister, Ruby Jean Harris; his aunt, Ruby Fields; his uncle, Roy B. Cook; and his cousin, Jaydean Huff. Their memories, anchored in love and shared experiences, remain close for those who continue Leroy’s story.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 22nd, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Nicholas Family Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
Military honors will be provided at the cemetery by DAV Chapter #20
As we remember Leroy Dale Nicholas, we celebrate a life defined by service, kindness, humility, and the lasting impact he had on all fortunate enough to share in his journey. His memory will endure in the gardens he tended, the countryside he loved, and in the hearts of all those who carry his spirit forward.
