Lillian Maxie Peden Depp, age 99, passed away on June 20, 2025, in Winter Park, Florida.

Maxie Depp was born on October 31, 1925, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to M.C. Peden and Lilly Whitney Peden. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1944. Maxie married Wallace "Wally" Depp on December 28, 1946 in Franklin, KY. For the next 15 years Wally and Maxie lived in Indianapolis, IN, where the couple had two children: W. Dane Depp and Peden L. Depp. Maxie earned a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Indianapolis in 1960. In 1961, the Depp family moved to Apopka, FL. Maxie then started her 26 year career as a public school teacher teaching at Apopka Elementary and Lovell Elementary from 1961 to 1987.

Maxie was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Apopka where she taught Sunday School for many years. She loved flowers and was active in the Garden Club as well as many other groups and organizations in Apopka. Maxie was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was a woman of faith and known for her thoughtful, caring and warm personality. 

In addition to her sons Dane Depp (Glasgow, KY) and Peden "Pede" Depp (Orlando, FL), Maxie is survived by her sister Doris Jean Harrod (Frankfort, KY); nieces Katherine (Harrod) Cain (Maitland, FL), Alice Sterling Deen (Oviedo, FL) and Kimberly K. Depp (Rocky Mount, NC); nephew Joe Sterling (Orlando, FL); cousins Rebecca (Miller) Lano (Mesa, AZ) and Donna MacFarland (Castalian Springs, TN). Maxie was preceded in death by her husband, Wally Depp, her parents, M.C. and Lilly Peden, her stepmothers Hazel (Coleman) Peden and Lou Ella (Owen) Peden, her brother William C. Peden, her niece Jeannie (Harrod) Hixson and nephew Jon Sterling.

A graveside service will be held in her hometown of Glasgow, Kentucky on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will be held on July 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Apopka, FL.
