Lorene Jewell, a devoted homemaker and cherished member of her family, passed away on February 23, 2026, at the age of 97 in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Born on October 22, 1928, in Edmonson County, Kentucky, Lorene was the beloved daughter of the late Clifford Minyard and late Flossie Stice Minyard.

Throughout her life, Lorene dedicated herself to her home and family, embodying the spirit of love and warmth that defines a true matriarch. She was deeply involved in her community as a faithful member of Peters Creek Baptist Church, where she found not only spiritual fulfillment, but also lifelong friendships.

Lorene was known for her exceptional cooking and sewing skills, often delighting family and friends with her delicious meals and handcrafted creations. However, her greatest joy came from spending quality time with her loved ones. Lorene’s legacy of love and compassion will be carried forward by her family, which includes her three sons, Kelly Jewell (Kathy), Jeff Jewell, and Bob Jewell (Nancy), along with her grandchildren: Jordan Jewell (Miranda), Jenna Jewell (Julie), Angie Edmunds (Brad), and Amber Newton (BoBo). Additionally, Lorene enjoyed her role as a great-grandmother to Rafe Jewell, Ross Jewell, Zeke Jewell, Zack McDonald, Alex McDonald, Noah Newton, Nathan Newton, Emory Newton, Eva Newton, and Franko Newton.

Lorene is survived by her sisters Della Jessie, Bernice Johnson, Marie Jones and her brother Roger Minyard, as well as her special cousins Marjorie Towne and Sonny Towne, and several nieces and nephews who will remember her with great affection.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leon "Buck" Jewell, and siblings Billy Minyard, Melvin Minyard, Roy Minyard, Lula Bell Doyel, and Louise Allen.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday February 28th, at A.F. Crow and Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday, February 27th, at 3:00PM until 8:00PM and Saturday morning until time for service at the funeral home.
