Marjorie Houchens

Margie Houchens 80, died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at her home in the Bonayr community of Barren County. She was born June 12, 1935 the daughter of the late Oris and Nellie Walden Basil. She married Ray Houchens June 10, 1955 and they were married 45 years until his death on October 7, 2000. Mrs. Houchens was retired from T. J. Samson Community Hospital Dietary Department where she worked for 28 years. She was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church. She is survived by her loving daughter Martha Houchens (Jeff Burris) of Bonayr; 1 sister Ima Delores Sexton, 2 brothers James Basil and Gene Basil all of Glasgow; a sister-in-law Margaret Basil of Louisville and several nieces and nephews including Pat Bragg whom she considered a sister. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by two sisters Virginia Bunnell and Bertha Matthews and three brothers Lee Roy, Troy and Ray Basil. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, June 9th at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM Wednesday.
