Mark Timothy Oliver

Mark Timothy Oliver, 64, of Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away on September 14, 2026, at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was born on January 24, 1962, in Glasgow, Kentucky to the late Carl Neeley Oliver and the late Jean Troxall Oliver.

Mark devoted much of his life to serving others and strengthening the community he loved. He spent 22 years working as an EMT for Barren-Metcalfe EMS, a role that reflected his deep compassion and steady commitment to helping people in their most difficult moments. His public service extended even further through 27 years as a volunteer fireman, serving with numerous units including Edmonton, East Barren, Hiseville, Cave City, Glasgow, South Barren, and Summer Shade. He also served as a constable in District 3 in Barren County for 12 years. In every role, Mark was known as someone who cared deeply, worked hard, and always sought to make his community a better place.

He will also be remembered for the spirit he brought to everyday life. Mark was a jokester who was always trying to get one on someone, and his sense of humor left lasting smiles with those who knew him. He was passionate about every person he gave care to and consistently went above and beyond for others. He loved all animals, with a special affection for horses. He enjoyed trail riding and was even known to take part in a few rodeos. Above all else, he was proud to carry the name of father and grandfather, and that pride remained central to his life.

Mark is survived by his son, John Oliver and his wife, Emilee Dennis; his grandchildren, Elijah John Poynter and Emma Grace Poynter; his fiancée, Nicole Lane; his step-sons, Joshua Bray and Gregory Edmiston; his step-daughter, Lilly-Kate Lane; his sister-in-law, Cindie Oliver, and his porch pal, Tigger aka Houdini. He leaves behind a family who will cherish his humor, his devotion, and the care he gave so freely to those around him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tony Oliver.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 17th, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, and Thursday morning until time for the service at the funeral home. 

Mark Timothy Oliver will be remembered with gratitude for a life of service, with affection for the joy he brought to others, and with love for the family and community that meant so much to him.
