Marla Eurene Byrd, 65, of Eighty Eight, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Shanti Niketan Hospice Home in Glasgow. She was born in Glasgow, Kentucky on May 23, 1960, to the late Shelby Dennis Gillon and the late Eva Rose Inman. She was a beloved figure to many and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Marla dedicated 41 years of her life to serving as a ward clerk at TJ Samson Community Hospital, where her commitment to care and compassion touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues. Her legacy of service reflects her warm spirit and the kindness she embodied throughout her life.

A woman of many passions, Marla found joy in the simple pleasures. She cherished quiet moments with a good book on her porch sipping iced tea and cheering at the races at Beech Bend. Her admiration for the beauty of horses and her unmatched passion for muscle cars brought great joy to her life. However, nothing was more fulfilling for Marla than the time spent with her family, her deep love for the Lord, and her time spent with her church family. Watching her grandson play ball and sharing precious moments with them, filled her heart with the greatest joys. Whether on the bleachers or side by side at home, these familial connections represented her most treasured experiences.

Marla's memory will remain alive through her loving family. She is survived by her two sons, Nicholas Allen Wood and Timothy Evan Wood; grandchildren, Benjamin Veachel Ray Wood and Renna Raven Wood; brother, Allen Gillon (Angela); sisters, Janie Hawk (Terry) and Penny Garner (Todd); and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband and lifelong love, Carl Timothy Byrd; and her father, Veachel Cloyd.
