Mary Elizabeth Lockhart, 94, of Smiths Grove, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at her residence. She was born March 1, 1929 in Barren County, Kentucky to the late Carlos Sturdivant and Hortense Kinslow Sturdivant. Mary was a homemaker and loved sewing, cooking, going to yard sales, and taking care of her precious grandbabies. She is survived by her son, Steve Lockhart of Smiths Grove; daughter, Rita Coomer of Cave City; four grandchildren, Kevin Houchens of Smiths Grove, Nathan Houchens (Katie) of Scottsville, Laura King (Bryan) of Glasgow, Amanda Coomer of Cave City; nine great grandchildren, Shyla and Brayden Houchens, Layla King, Kaleb Fisher (Shelbi), Haley Fisher, Isaac and Bianca Houchens, Hunter and Kadence Strain; two great great grandchildren, Luke and Jace Fisher; and one brother, Larry Sturdivant (AL). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband whom she married on February 27, 1952, Harold A. Lockhart; one sister, Helen Reed; three brothers, Jewell, Howard, and Andrew Sturdivant; one son-in-law, Randall Coomer; and one brother-in-law, Maurice Lockhart. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the South Barren Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The funeral service for Mrs. Lockhart will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, July 23rd at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday afternoon from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Sunday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
