Myrtle Wilson Shirley

Myrtle Wilson Shirley,79, of Glasgow, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2025, at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, Kentucky. She was born on March 2, 1946, in Glasgow, to the late Roger Wooten and the late Elizabeth Crumpton Wooten. She devoted her life to caring for others as a nursing assistant at NHC Healthcare. Her gentle and compassionate nature left a mark on the lives of those she served.
Myrtle had a love for animals, often going out of her way to rescue those in need, showcasing her kind spirit and nurturing heart. She also found joy in reading and would always be found with a book in her hand.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Shirley Jr. (Jolee), Chris Shirley (Melinda), and Tommy Shirley (Stacey); daughter, Rita Cross; grandchildren: Samantha Willian (Andrew), Jessica Shirley (Michael), Owen Crain, Adam Shirley, Zachary Carver, Jakob Shirley (McKenna), and Joshua Shirley (Meghan); great-grandchildren, Staylee Shirley, Margot Crain, Emma Grace Shirley, and Oliver Shirley; sisters, Anna Doolin and Doris York; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Shirley; brothers George Wooten, Richard Wooten, Henry Wooten, James Wooten, and Virgil Wooten; and sisters, Martha Parks, Rose Wooten, Katherine Parker, and Wanda Brown.
The funeral service for Ms. Shirley will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 27, 2025, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM until time for the service at the funeral home.
