Phyllis de Haas, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026, at Signature Healthcare in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Born on February 9, 1944, in Washington, New Jersey, Phyllis lived a life rich with love, family, and joyful moments that she treasured deeply.
Throughout her life, Phyllis was known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. A highlight of her days was playing bingo with her close circle of friends, sharing in the camaraderie and laughter that those gatherings brought. Her passion for baking showed, especially when she had her yearly Christmas cookie cut-out day that she shared with everyone she loved. This was a reflection of her generous spirit and the joy she found in bringing smiles to others. Above all, Phyllis cherished the time spent with her family, holding those relationships as the most precious to her heart.
She is survived by a devoted family who carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Her children, Samuel de Haas (Linda) of Whittier, California; Patti Davidson (Brian) of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and Matt de Haas (Nickie) of Glasgow, Kentucky, along with her grandchildren Lindsay Ryti (Hunter), Justin de Haas, Riley Davidson, Gracyn Wellman, and Paige de Haas, will forever remember her guiding presence and gentle affection. Phyllis also leaves behind her brother Charlie Shutts, along with several nieces and nephews who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Harley and Josephine de Vries Rothenback; her loving husband, Henry de Haas; her granddaughter, Reece Davidson; and her brother, Sunny Rush. Their memories live on in the stories and hearts of all who knew her.
