Richard Dale Poynter

Ricky Dale Poynter, passed away on October 14, 2026, at his residence. He was born on February 16, 1957, to the late Edmond and Idelle Poynter. 

Richard will be remembered as a man who never met a stranger and whose kindness left a lasting impression on those around him. He enjoyed the simple and meaningful things in life, especially farming, hunting, NASCAR, and UK Basketball. Those who knew him will remember the warmth he brought to conversations and the easy way he connected with others.

He also took pride in his work and, after 37 years, retired from R.R. Donnelley. His long career reflected dedication, perseverance, and a steady commitment that marked much of his life.

He is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Mary “Jeannie” Poynter; his daughter, Tasha Caffee; his son, Todd Poynter (Jeannie); his grandchildren, Dylan Poynter, Noen Caffee, Justin Caffee, and Timothy Caffee (Sarah); and his great-grandchild, Tamen Caffee. He leaves behind a family who will hold his memory close and carry forward the love and kindness he shared throughout his life.

Ricky was preceded in death by his brother Eddie Poynter and granddaughter Asia Caffee.  

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Sunday until time for services at the funeral home. 

Richard Dale Poynter’s life was marked by hard work, kindness, and a genuine love for family and friends. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
