Shelvy Allen Boston, of Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, Kentucky, at the age of 78. Born on September 5, 1947, in Glasgow, Shelvy’s life was marked by devotion to his family, dedication to his work, and an unwavering joy for simple pleasures.

Shelvy spent his early years in his beloved hometown, developing strong roots that would anchor him throughout his life. He found great purpose in serving his community as a school bus driver for Barren County Schools for several years, playing an important role in ensuring the safety and well-being of countless children each day. Later, he dedicated additional years of service to Sumitomo, gaining the respect and friendship of coworkers who admired his steady work ethic and dependable nature.

Known for his warm personality and infectious enthusiasm, Shelvy truly valued time spent with friends and family, finding joy in even the quietest moments. He loved fishing trips that offered both relaxation and excitement, and often spent his leisure hours coloring, woodworking, or watching softball, pastimes that spoke to his creativity and his appreciation for life’s gentle pleasures. Shelvy was also proudly known as a food critic among those who knew him well. Sharing delicious meals with loved ones became not just a hobby, but a way to create lasting memories.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Rebecca Boston, who stood by his side through all of life’s seasons. Together, they raised a family that brought them immense pride and happiness. Shelvy is lovingly remembered by his children, Jamie Boston of Temple Hill, Stacie Wilkerson of Scottsville, and Jeffrey Boston (Erin) of Tompkinsville. He is also survived by four cherished grandchildren: Madison Hollinsworth, Jackson Hollinsworth, Jamison Boston, and Ellison Boston. The bond he shared with his grandchildren was a source of great joy and fulfillment; time spent together was treasured by all.

In addition to his immediate family, Shelvy is survived by his brothers Eugene Boston (Glenda) of Temple Hill, Kyle Boston (Kathy) of Glasgow, Eddie Boston (Christina) of Horse Cave, and Timmy Boston of Glasgow; and his sister, Kay Turner (Hughie) of Glasgow. His family circle further includes sisters-in-law Regina Taylor, Roberta Johnson, and Vanessa Geralds; and brother-in-law, Robert Warren; as well as several nieces and a nephew who will forever carry fond memories.

Shelvy’s life was touched by the love of those who went before him. He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Payne Boston; mother, Ora Elizabeth Stephens Boston; and step-mother, Rosie Nell Vance Boston; his sister, Sylvia Scott Sandefur; a granddaughter, Bonnie Bowe; his father-in-law, Harlie Geralds; mother-in-law Betty Geralds; brothers-in-law, Terry Taylor, Kenneth Geralds, Roger Geralds, Sam Sandefur; and sisters-in-law, Faye Warren and Cheri Boston. Their shared experiences and loving bonds continue to live on in the stories passed down among those who remain.

Memorial contributions can be made to Poplar Log Cemetery in remembrance of Shelvy.

Funeral services for Shelvy Allen Boston will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 29th, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 28th, and beginning at 8:00 A.M. on Monday until the time of service at the funeral home.
