Shirley Jean Ball, a beloved figure whose legacy is woven into the very fabric of her family and community, passed away on December 22, 2025, in Glasgow, Kentucky. Born on February 14, 1949, in Oneida, Arkansas, she brought warmth and joy to the lives of everyone she met.

Shirley dedicated her life to caring for her home and children, embracing the humble yet profound role of a homemaker. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering love stood as a testament to her character. She found true joy in the simple things—whether tending to her vibrant garden or relishing the companionship of her beloved animals, her life was a celebration of love and gratitude.

A woman of grace and faith, Shirley had a remarkable ability to light up any room with her kindness and gentle spirit. She treasured holidays, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and togetherness that her family will carry in their hearts forever. Many cherished afternoons were spent watching Hallmark movies and westerns, where her infectious laughter echoed through the living room, bringing family members closer together.

Surviving Shirley are her cherished daughters, Brenda Webb (Ronald) and Tammy Ball, who carry forward her legacy of love. Her grandchildren, Aya Hazell, Amanda Wilburn (Chris), Zacharie Ball (Erika), and Ashleigh Olin, were a source of immense pride for her, along with her great-grandchildren—Emily Angel, Blake Angel, Rayleigh Wilburn, Dezmond Vermillion, Bellamy Ball, and Leon Ball. Each of them holds a special place in her heart, forever marked by her nurturing love.

Shirley also leaves behind her loving sisters—Carolyn Combs, Patricia Mullins, and Margaret Seymour—as well as several nieces and nephews who were blessed by her presence in their lives.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert Ball; her father, Octie Eugene Taylor; her mother, Margaret Eugenia O'Bonnon; and her brother, Eugene Taylor. Together, they created a shared heritage of love that will continue to resonate through the lives of those she leaves behind.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday December 27, 2025, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Somerset Cemetery. The visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday December 26, 2025, and Saturday morning until time for the service.

Shirley Jean Ball's spirit will continue to shine through the love she spread and the bonds she nurtured. She will be profoundly missed but will always remain an integral part of her family’s story, watched over by the grace and faith she embodied throughout her life.
