Shirley Jean Coffey, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, at the Barren County Nursing and Rehab. Born on April 1, 1943, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, Shirley led a life defined by her Christianity and dedication to her family. She was a faithful member of South Green Church of Christ
Shirley worked as a sales clerk for K-Mart, where her kindness and approachable demeanor earned her the respect and affection of both colleagues and customers alike. Her commitment to excellent service was reflected not only in her job but also in the relationships she nurtured throughout her life.
She was the cherished wife of the late Doyle Franklin Coffey, who preceded her in death. Shirley also mourned the loss of her father, Carl Pitcock, her mother, Robbie (Geralds) Pitcock, and her brother, William Pitcock, who all played significant roles in shaping her compassionate nature.
Shirley is survived by a loving family that includes her brothers, Darrell Pitcock; Glen Pitcock (Judith); Carl Pitcock Jr (Judie); Louie D. Pitcock (Janice); and David Pitcock (Kaye). In addition, she leaves behind 13 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews, all of whom will forever hold dear the memories created with her.
The funeral service will be at 4:00 PM, Sunday, August 24th at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Visitation will be Saturday, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Sunday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to South Green Church of Christ.
