Sue Furlong (Jean Kinslow), 70, of Glasgow, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Shanti Niketan Hospice Home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Glasgow, Kentucky, on January 5, 1954, to the late Billy Kinslow and Marie Smith Taylor. Suzie loved everyone she met and was always known for wanting to give hugs.
Sue grew up in the Beckton community and attended Park City High School where she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen. She was a graduate of the class of 1972 and enjoyed attending her class reunions and spending time with all her classmates. Sue was known for her hard work throughout her adult life. She spent countless hours working alongside her husband on their tobacco farm, in addition to various full-time jobs outside of the home, including Kentucky Pants Factory and Minit Mart (South Green Street). In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, and being outdoors. In more recent years, she liked watching the cows in her field and feeding birds. Sue never missed listening to “The Trader” daily and spent Sundays listening to the Bluegrass Show where all the listeners knew her as “Old Mean Sue”.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Donald Furlong; two daughters, Jody Richardson (Chad) and Katy Furlong (Nate Ferguson); two grandchildren, Dylan Wells and Melanie Richardson; one brother, Johnny Kinslow (Amye); two sisters, Linda Wray (Dwayne) and Rita Holman (Neal); stepfather, Joe Taylor; and several nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends.
