Terry Reid Gray, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and devoted Christian, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, at Gallatin Rehab and Nursing in Gallatin, Tennessee. Born on October 26, 1948, in Edmonton, Kentucky, Terry lived a life marked by dedication to his country, his faith, and his family.
Terry honorably served in the United States Army as a proud member of the 101st Airborne Division. A brave Vietnam veteran, he courageously participated in 25 aerial missions over hostile territory. His valor and commitment earned him distinguished military honors, including the Bronze Star, Air Medal, and Army Commendation Medal. His service remains a testament to his unwavering courage and patriotism.
Beyond his military achievements, Terry was a man of deep Christian faith. He was a devoted member of Grider Memorial Baptist Church in Glasgow, Kentucky, where he found fellowship and spiritual strength. Terry was also a loving family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Gray, and her children, Heather Ritter and Noah Grooms; and his son, Terry Gray Jr. He is also remembered fondly by his brothers- and sisters-in-law: Robert Slone, Catherine Bagby (Robert), Vicie Hankins, and Kyle Bowles (Linda). His extended family includes several nieces and nephews who carry forward his legacy of warmth and generosity.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Gray, and mother, Anice Gassaway Gray; his beloved wife of 53 years, June Bowles Gray; mother-in-law, Pauline Bowles; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Slone, Shrada Cumbee, and Dale Cumbee; nephews, Max Hankins II and Raymond Ward.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 1st, at Grider Memorial Baptist Church, with burial in the Bowles Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time for the service at the church. Military honors will be provided by the US Army Honor Guard.
Terry Reid Gray’s life was a beacon of faith, courage, and love. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who were blessed to share in his journey.
