William Vernon Mains Jr.

William Vernon “Bill” Mains Jr., age 77, of Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025, at NHC HealthCare in Glasgow, Kentucky. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on July 23, 1947, to the late William Mains Sr. and the late Odile (Heckmann) Mains. Bill proudly served his country in the Navy, Army, and retired from the Air Force. After retiring from the military, he then met the love of his life, Elisabeth Mains, through their shared compassion for Elvis, and then settled in Glasgow, Kentucky. Bill was a faithful member of the Glasgow First Assembly of God Church. Bill loved spending time with his family and was known for his compassion and love for others. Bill's true happiness came through the happiness of others and was truly a blessing to everyone that had the liberty of knowing him.

Bill is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Mains; children, Nicole Compton (Jody), Wallace Mains (Marlyn), Paul Handley (Andrea), Carline Bethel (John); grandchildren, Launa Mains, Madison Mains, Kyle Compton (Hillary); Kayla Evans (Cody), Rebecca Carr (Adam), Emma Osguthorp, Harry Osguthrop (Abby); eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Vickie Ellis (Chuck), Dellan Boggass; brother, Jody Mains; and brother, Dominic Marchetta.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tony Mains and Russell Mains; and sister, Jackie Mains.

The family has honored Bill’s wishes for cremation under the direction of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
