Yancy Smith

Melvin Smith 83 of Glasgow, KY passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital after a brief illness with Leukemia. Born January 9, 1928 in Barren County he was the son of the late J. Y. & Emersonia Emerson Smith. Mr. Smith served his country briefly in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church and also attended The Rocky Hill Missionary Baptist Mission. Survivors include his wife of 59yrs Joann Button Smith of Glasgow, a son Dennis M. Smith (Stephanie) of Lake Orion, MI; a grandson Stewart A. Smith of Lake Orion, MI; a brother David C. Smith (Betty Lois) of Austin, KY; a sister Emogene Carter (John) of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition n to his parents he is preceded in death by 3 brothers Bill T., Jim Allen and Marvin Smith and a sister Annie Mae Mutter. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
